Using computer in teaching learning process

Many people warn of the possible harmful effects of using technology in the classroom. Will children lose their ability to relate to other human beings? Will they become dependent on technology to learn? Will they find inappropriate materials? The same was probably said with the invention of the printing press, radio, and television. All of these can be used inappropriately, but all of them have given humanity unbounded access to information which can be turned into knowledge. Appropriately used-- interactively and with guidance-- they have become tools for the development of higher order thinking skills.
Inappropriately used in the classroom, technology can be used to perpetuate old models of teaching and learning. Students can be "plugged into computers" to do drill and practice that is not so different from workbooks. Teachers can use multimedia technology to give more colorful, stimulating lectures. Both of these have their place, but such use does not begin to tap the power of these new tools.
In this area, you will find descriptions of how computers can be used to stimulate and develop writing skills, collaborate with peers in foreign countries, do authentic kinds of research that is valuable to the adult world, and do complex kinds of problem solving that would otherwise be impossible.
Teachers who use technology in the classroom may be more effective with students. Today's students are all about immediate gratification and even when in school, this still holds true. If educators don't change the old ways of instructing, the leaders of tomorrow may not have learned much. It is up to them, as professionals, to alter their ways to meet the ever-changing needs of their pupils. Being aware of different types of technology that are available is imperative to understanding how it can best be utilized.
Computers can help teachers accomplish many of their tasks more efficiently and effectively, but how can a time-strapped teacher determine which pieces of technology are likely to be most helpful? This easy-to-read book offers useful guidance for real-world situations. Organized around specific instructional goals (improving student writing, promoting collaborative learning) and commonly encountered tasks (communicating with students between class, distributing course materials), the book shows teachers at all instructional levels when and how technology can help them meet everyday challenges.
Written in an anecdotal, non-technical style, the book and its accompanying CD-ROM cover how to use technology to:
communicate with students
distribute course materials
promote collaborative learning
learn through experience
clarify course objectives
improve student writing
develop student research skills
use assessment and feedback
collect course materials
identify plagiarism
Teachers looking for tools to help them work better and more quickly will welcome this invaluable guide to the technology that will expedite their search.

BENEFITIAL OF TECHNOLOGY FOR EDUCATION

Technology is one characteristic defining reality of human being that is the part of history cover history entirety. Technology, according to Djoyohadikusumo (1994, 222) sliver with science (science) and made in(engineering). Equally, technology contain two dimension, that is science and engineering which each other be interconnected one another. Science relate at understanding of us about real world of us, its meaning hit elementary marking at space dimension, about and energi items in interaction one to other.
Technology use in the world of education also recognized by E-Learning or electronic learning. E-Learning water down interaction between educative competitor with material Iesson. And so do interaction between educative competitor with lecturer/teacher/instructur and also between humanity of educative competitor. Educative competitor earn each other share information or opinion hit matters which is concerning Iesson and or requirement of development of educative competitor itself. With activity of e-Learning enabled to expand the flexibility high learn, where enabling the happening of interaction of study where from and any time ( time and place flexibility).
NowdaysTechnology is one of main factor in supporting process teaching and learning. One of them is that is by e-learning is internet that opening source of information which cannot be accessed. Internet is one of very recent technological example for human being in this time and specially for world of education itself. technological growth fastly, especially internet can develop information service better in an education institution.
A lot of benefit which got for an institution of education where using technology as study media, especially internet, namely:
1. access information which quickly, accurate where on earth as well as any time
2. executing process learn and teach by online
3. providing medium of sharing with
4. providing facility of data searcher
5. ect
That benefit is very felt by all student. A student will be more motivated in doing something if matter go together with growth of technology. And surely such as those which we know most of all peripheral that exist in internet in english, this matter indirectly motivate a student to learn english. Because they realize that internet is one of media which to communicate with people from other which in this time english represent as international language.
So how kind if internet used as good as possible in course of learning to teaching english. This matter donot miss from role of a creative and inovatif teacher in executing the process and can use existing potency. Teacher have to be active to motivate student to use internet. In case of necessity, teacher have to make handout guide or use and Internet and computer, especially how to use web browser or send e-mail. So that the student earn their menakses duty through existing technology. By Internet, student not even get new " toy", but also can get information more pukka and draw. But most important is how teacher earn actively dig student potency and exploit information technology to reach instruction target which have been specified by inovatif and draw .

Benefits and weaknesses of Teaching English with technology

By Juwanto (A1B207070)

Learning is the process in getting the knowledge. Learning could be a transfer knowledge from teacher to the learners. In learning language, teachers should be more active in getting any possibilities for helping them to deliver materials in teaching process. Due to make their teaching process to be successful , teachers try to find some teaching tools. It can makes teachers to be easier in transferring knowledge to the learners. The possibility that teachers can do for helping them in teaching is technology. Technology is a product of globalization era and something that can help teachers to assist their teaching, such as for getting more information, finding new strategies in learning, and etc. Using technology in teaching-learning process has some advantages or benefits and some disadvantages or weaknesses.

Unknown mengatakan...

juwanto's article part 2 :

The advantages of teaching English with technology can influence automatically to the learners. First, by using technology, teachers can help the students to solve their problem about finding the information. Teachers can introduce internet to the students specific to find the information. For example teacher should introduce the learners about how to operate the search engine like google effectively. Also, teachers must keep in up to date the information. These are useful to make learners to be interesting and also to make learners to be motivated by this way. Second, technology can helps students to be easy to understand some materials. Teachers can design the materials as well as they can do by using some teaching equipments such as video, audio (tape recorder, radio), an attractive whiteboard in teaching process. Even in designing the materials, teachers should design the best arrangement by using word processing that technology provided. Third, students can be easy to develop their knowledge and their experience. Because of technology, students know what they have to do after learn some technology items by themselves. They become know many information in around the world such as information in other country, about economic, law, etc. Fourth, by using technology, teachers can introduce students for present things that happen in the world specifically in internet. Teacher possible to teach by using websites in the classroom, unconsciously students know what is the website and how to use it well. Then, how to use E-mail, chat, blog, and etc, spontaneously students know them. Teacher can take advantage of them as a media when teachers teach English for students. Beside those benefits, there are still many others advantages about using technology in teaching English.
However, on the other hand, there are some weaknesses in using technology in the teaching process. These weaknesses could be about the teachers and students itself. First, when the teachers do not have any experience about technology, even they do not know at all, teachers can not explain the materials or teaching material by using technology as their media. They do not have knowledge about that, so they can not introduce technology to the students. Second, if the learners or students do not have much experience about information technology (IT) before, it is hard to teachers to introduce them about technology or new technology. We have to find out our learners’ IT skills and degrees of experience. In introducing them, for starting we have to use the simplest technologies in the classroom. Third, the problem of teaching with technology is the minimum of facilities for using technology as teaching media. We can give some examples in some places that do not have enough facility for teaching. Also, some places are out of internet signal could be hard to introduce internet for them. If we look at that fact, we only can use the natural way in teaching English without any technology that can support. Fourth, the other weakness is about the students who are not responsible to what they have got for using a technology as internet. Some students use internet in bad way. They use internet is not for look for information, but some of them only waste their time for playing game online. Then, there some of them who know some bad sites (inappropriate site), they play on it without any regret. All of the situations are indication that problems will come together with the advantages of globalization effect that is technology.
In short, technology is a product of globalization era that is very useful in teaching learning process and have a big role in teaching-learning process as long as we use it tactfully. Also, we can see some big progress in result of teaching process if we compare it with using traditional method of teaching. In addition, technology have helped teachers in transferring knowledge to learners even though there are some weaknesses by effect of using technology in wrong way.

Teaching by using Internet
By Hanin Rozanita
Nim A1B207051

Nowadays, many technology that we can use in teaching learning process, one of them is internet. Internet is some mediation of technology to find many information and new knowledge. Usually internet is more complicated than library in the school. So, the learner will be easy to find knowledge that they need and also for the teacher. The teacher will be easy to teach them without much explain about material that he/she want to teach, because the student has understand about the material it self. As we know, teaching is some process to transfer knowledge for the learner, and about learning, learning is some process to get new knowledge.
The advantages of using internet in teaching process are, the internet can be motivator for student in learning process because the student will interest to find other information and knowledge, beside that the student will be more active in the classroom because they has understand about the material it self and they can share their knowledge with the teacher, etc.
However, there are many disadvantages of using internet in teaching and learning process. They are: the student will be lazy to do their homework, because they can find in the internet and than copy it. Than the students can open inappropriate sites, it is make them lost from their first purposes, that is want find new knowledge and new information. Etc.
In here, I would like to give some key to successful use of internet for teaching. They are:
1. Knowledge and Usage of the internet and its services.
In here, the teacher must know how to access the various services available through the internet. Apart from assisting teacher in class preparation, a good knowledge of the internet allows to assist students in their class activities involving the internet.
2. Training on continual basis.
In here, the teacher has to know the subject matter in order to teach students and others.

3. Provisions of web sites and search tool
In here, the teacher should provide their students, if necessary with search engines to use for their students searches.
4. Responsible use of the internet
In here, in searching the internet, the students should always have in mind the objectives and goals of the project and avoid unnecessary deviations to irrelevant sites.
5. Evaluation Method
In here, the teacher should develop an appropriate evaluation method for their class. This is particularly important if the teacher get their students involve in collaborative projects that the teacher has no direct supervision over.

So, teaching by using internet is very helping for the teacher and the learner. Even though there are some advantages and disadvantages in this process. But it is can be success if the teacher followed key of successful in teaching process above.

TEACHING BY USING COMPUTER TECHNOLOGY IN ENGLISH

Technology is becoming increasingly important in both our personal and professional lives, and our learners are using technology more and more.
Computer - based materials for language teaching, often referred to as CALL ( Computer Assisted Language Learning ), appeared in the early 1980s. Early CALL programs typically required learners to respond to stimuli on the computer screen and to carry out tasks such as filling in gapped texts, matching sentence halves and doing multiple – choice activities. Probably one of the best – known early CALL activities is that of text reconstruction, where an entire text is blanked out and the learner recreates it by typing in words. For all of these activities the computer then offers the learner feedback, ranging from simply pointing out whether the answer is correct or incorrect to providing more sophisticated feedback, such as showing why the learner is mistaken and offering remedial activities. The CALL approach is one that is still found on many published CD – ROMs for language teaching.
Technology is an ever – increasing part of the English language arts classroom. Today’s teacher are developing new and exciting means of integrating language, writing, and literature with innovative technologies.
There are two kinds of reasons for using computer technology in English. First there are the benefits to teachers and students from including computer technology in any learning area :
For students technology can :
- Be very motivational
- Be the source of a significant amount of reading material
- Be fun – and when it’s fun you learn
- help students to produce excellent published work
For teachers technology can :
- Allow for the easy production , storage and retrieval of prepared materials such as certificates and work required sheets.
- Free up communication other teachers
- Help teachers to find information easily
- Assist good teaching but not replace it
Secondly, there are the challenges and opportunities presented by computer technology that make it an increasingly important part of English in particular. This include :
- The emergence of new kinds of texts and the consequents need to teach students to create and use these texts effectively.
- Changing social practices associated with communicating via computers and the consequent need to teach students how to make judgement about appropriate use of different avenues of communication.
- The pervasiveness and power of texts created through computer technology and the consequent need to teach student to be critical readers and viewers of such texts.
Critically reading and viewing computer - base texts
When we use computer technology to make and access texts, we operate in changing social context.
While teacher s have been busy learning to use computer technology, the emphasis has understandably been on practical applications rather than critical analysis. Now that critical literacy is recognized as a significant part of English, teachers are starting to develop a critical approach to computer technology.
“According Orndorff ( 1987 )further suggest that students’ lack of ability in critical reading is related to the fact that is has not been widely taught “.
The students increase their personal power when they improve their traditional literacy skill, they also gain significant social power through competent, critically aware use of new communication technology. English teachers are in a powerful position to help student develop this new dimension of literacy.

English language learning, including new thing in the education system in Indonesia. As a foreign language that are not used everyday in society, the English language is considered difficult to learn. To reduce the difficulty to learn english need what approaches and strategies that can be used so that learning becomes cheap and attractive. After creating the mood required to foster motivation and accelerate English attainment in the classroom, guru needs to continue to make the class interesting. This can be achieved through the use of alternative classroom such as technology.

1.Tape Recorder

One of the technologies that are closely related to learning English is the form of a tape recorder with cassette tape, the teacher can train the speech, sentence patterns, and intonation with which the tape cassette can be prepared in advance and students listened to a few times and then the students can imitate the tape together same as he followed the tapes.

2. Incorporate Video and Audio Technology

Once students have had a plethora of vocabulary and have started building grammatical structures, guru can move on to cultural and idiomatic uses of English by using one of the hardest things to do when learning a new language is to decipher when and where words begin and end in sentences while someone is speaking. Watching television and movies will help alleviate this obstacle.

Often times, students who learn English in one region may not be able to understand English speakers from other regions within the same country because they are not used to the way the words are pronounced outside of their immediate learning circle. Watching TV programs and films will help students get accustomed to various regional dialects, speech patterns and colloquial expressions.

Another use of technology in the curriculum to include music as well. Music without a doubt, help students decipher the words. Music is a great unity. This has the potential to unite people of different races, cultures, and religions. Because of interesting music with emotion, will encourage students to learn the meaning of the lyrics will sing.

Using these techniques may feel awkward or seem too simple for a set of professional skills, but need the business. Teachers may be surprised that the students understand and more quickly, they can achieve a lot by listening and this is a fun little creative this can make learning and accelerate students will understand the English language.

The article premise is that technology can be used as an effective teaching tool for English language learners. To discuss a variety of research illustrating how teachers can help English language learners develop their language skills through the use of technology.

Teaching students to be literate is a high educational priority in the world. Though this area is one of our greatest priorities, it is also one of our greatest challenges. The classroom environment has changed from many years ago. Teachers face the challenges of a large population who do not speak English in well.
We believe that computers can play an integral part in providing ELL students with valuable language experiences as they learn a new language. This essay focuses on how computer can help the students and also can be a support teaching tool for teaching English language learners. Additionally, a discussion of the benefits that have been found in using technology with ELL.
. Children need to be able to interact with each other so that learning through communication can occur. Computers can facilitate this type of environment. The computer can act as a tool to increase exchange in general. computer books were used to investigate whether computers increase general interaction between students. These computer books are interactive stories that appear on the computer screen as an actual book with text and illustrations. There are also a variety of interactive choices students can use to read the story, including: real voices that read aloud, music, and sound effects. The story is also full of colour so readers can follow along with the text.

CONTENT

This study was conducted by videotaping student interactions while using the computer books. Students were arranged in groups of three to read the stories. Their types of speech used with each other were analyzed. Even though the children had limited English language proficiency, they engaged in various modes of language functions to accomplish their reading of the computer books, They made many commands to each other. They also shared opinions and made suggestions. They tended to ask a lot of questions of their partners and were given, the study concluded that general interaction and the use of a variety of language functions by English language learners can be facilitated by the use of the computer.. The use of the computer can be a useful to support the traditional teaching of the ELL classroom by promoting general communication and the acquisition of English.
One way to use computers for English Language Learners is to teach vocabulary. Students need to learn vocabulary in context and with visual clues to help them understand. Computers can provide this very well, contextual environment. The computer also allows students to become active learners in their environment. so, the contextual approach proved to be much more effective in promoting long-term recall of vocabulary. This learning process was made possible and more effective by the use of computers.
Now for the reading ,Computer software and games provide many fun opportunities for students to practice literacy skills. There are numerous software packages for improving spelling, phonics skills, grammar and sight word vocabulary. When English Language Learners are learning their second language, any and all language experiences are valuable to assist in reading ability.
Also for the writing skills, computer can help the students grammar skills can also be demonstrated and reinforced using computers. The teacher can direct students to somehow highlight a specific part of speech (e.g. nouns) throughout their writing. To highlight, students have a lot of choices, such as underlining, italicizing, or changing the font size, color or type. Using a computer as a medium for studying grammar is much more motivating for a student as opposed to writing with a pencil.
Conclusion
Computer-assisted instruction has been shown in a range of studies to facilitate learning in a variety of ways. Computers can be used to aide in teaching English Language Learners in core academic subjects, such as reading and writing. Computers can aide in vocabulary development as well as verbal language development. Ultimately, however, it is important to recognize that computers are not a substitute for effective teaching. Computers are a tool--they are simply one type of supplement to the regular curriculum in teaching English Language Learners as they develop their English language skills.

Educational Technology
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia educational technology
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Educational technology (also called learning technology) is the study and ethical practice of facilitating learning and improving performance by creating, using and managing appropriate technological processes and resources." The term educational technology is often associated with, and encompasses, instructional theory and learning theory. While instructional technology covers the processes and systems of learning and instruction, educational technology includes other systems used in the process of developing human capability. Educational Technology includes, but is not limited to, software, hardware, as well as Internet applications and activities. But there is still debate on what these terms mean.

Educational technology and the humanities
Research from the Alberta Initiative for School Improvement (AISI) indicates that inquiry and project-based approaches, combined with a focus on curriculum, effectively supports the infusion of educational technologies into the learning and teaching process.
Technology in the Classroom
There are many kinds of computer and non-computer technologies currently in use in traditional classrooms. Among these are:
• Computer in the Classroom: Having a computer in the classroom is an asset to any teacher. With a computer in the classroom, teachers are able to demonstrate a new lesson, present new material, illustrate how to use new programs, and show new websites. Class Website: What better way to display your student's work, than to create a web page designed just for your class. Once a web page is designed, teachers can post homework assignments, student work, famous quotes, trivia games, and so much more. In current day society, children know how to use the computer and navigate their way through a website, so why not give them one where they can be a published author. Just be careful as most districts maintain strong policies to manage official websites for a school or classroom.
• Class Blogs and Wikis: These are some of a variety of Web 2.0 tools that are currently being implemented in the classroom. Blogs allow for students to maintain a running dialogue, like a journal, of thoughts, ideas, and assignments that also provide for student comment and reiterative reflection. Wikis are more group focused to allow multiple members of the group to edit a single document and create a truly collaborative and carefully edited finished product.
• Wireless Classroom Microphones: Noisy classrooms are a daily occurrence, and with the help of microphones, students are able to hear their teachers clearer. Children learn better when they hear the teacher clearly. The benefit for teachers is that they no longer lose their voices at the end of the day.
• Mobile devices: Mobile devices such as clickers or smartphone can be used to enhance the experience in the classroom by providing the possibility for professors to get feedback. (read more in the article MLearning).
• SmartBoards: An interactive whiteboard that provides touch control of computer applications.
• Online Media: Streamed video websites can be utilized to enhance a classroom lesson (e.g. United Streaming, Teacher Tube, etc.)
There are many other tools being utilized depending on the local school board and fund availability. These may include: digital cameras, video cameras, interactive whiteboard tools, document cameras, or LCD projectors.

INCORPORATING MULTIMEDIA INTO YOUR TEACHING
BY :
SUPRIADI.A
A1B207071
One of the most important uses of technology is that it makes it easy for instructors to incorporate multimedia into their teaching. While we use all of our senses to take in information, we each seem to have preferences in how we learn best. In order to help all students learn, we need to teach to as many of these preferences as possible.
Sound and Video Files
Sound and video can play a powerful part in the learning experience. The key word is part. Do not let media overwhelm the rest of the experience. Here are some ideas to keep in mind:
• These files can take up a lot of storage space. The higher the quality the more space it will take to store the file. Larger files take longer to load and download.
• By default, PowerPoint automatically links to these files rather than embedding them in the presentation. When your presentation has linked files, you must copy the linked files as well as the presentation if you are going to be giving the presentation on another computer. In addition, the files must be at the same level as they were on the original computer. This means if, on your computer, a folder is entitled “lecture one” and in it are your PowerPoint file and all the media files associated with it, then you’ll need to copy the entire folder to the new computer and leave the media files where they were relative to the presentation.
• Different file types allow different options for playback, quality, size and compatibility. Adding these files to your PowerPoint presentation is the easy part. You’ll want to learn a little something about sound and video files before you dive in. The CET (http://libweb.uoregon.edu/cet/) is a great place to start.
• Consider your presentation environment when planning to incorporate sound and video into your presentation. While your laptop speakers may pump out some volume, it’s unlikely that they will be sufficient for students in the back of the classroom.
Image Files and PowerPoint
PowerPoint handles many popular graphic file formats into your presentation. You don't need a separate filter to insert the following file formats:
• Enhanced Metafile (.emf)
• Graphics Interchange Format (.gif)
• Joint Photographic Experts Group (.jpg)
• Portable Network Graphics (.png)
• Microsoft Windows Bitmap (.bmp, .rle, .dib)
• Windows Metafile (.wmf) graphics
• Tagged Image File Format (.TIFF)
Inclusive Classroom Considerations
When working with multimedia it is important to take several things into consideration. While no one would consciously teach in a manner that would exclude students, sometimes we do things unconsciously that make certain students or groups of students feel uncomfortable or not involved in the class. You know what you are trying to accomplish by using a particular image, sound file or movie clip, but the students will not. They will make assumptions and draw conclusions based on the material you use. Multimedia is powerful and we need to use it thoughtfully. Here are some questions to ask when selecting media for use. When you take the time to consider these things and ask your students to do the same, you are modeling a powerful lesson for them.
Who is included?
Who is not included?
How are those who are included represented?
Positively or negatively?
Do they reinforce stereotypes in any way? (If they do, or might to some students,
don’t use them.)
What assumptions might students make from the media files you use?

Advantages and Disadvantages of Using Computer
Network Technology in Language Teaching

Today the internet, consisting of millions of computers, has an important role and great potential in educational life. It is also used specifically and widely in second language learning all over the world. However, with the advent of Internet, the computer has been transformed from a tool for information processing and display to a tool for information processing and communication. The instant world wide connections enabled by the Internet have changed the way teachers and learners work in their teaching and learning of second/foreign language. Indeed, the use of the Internet and the World Wide Web in second and foreign language instruction has been increasingly recognized. A number of applications of computer network technology have been utilized such as multimedia, email, electronic journals, databases, World Wide Web, chat, audio and video conferencing etc.
In this part, let we talk deeply about advantages and disadvantages of using Internet as a computer network technology in teaching. For the first, Internet brings many advantages and functions for teaching. (1)We can access information about materials for teaching The Net allows easy access to information all over the world. It complements the library. (2)The computer network has offered language teachers and learners a source of authentic materials, tools for communication and collaboration and tools for improving language skills. (3)The computer networked learning environment facilitates the language teaching and learning by providing teachers and learners with valuable sources of materials and also teachers can exploit multimedia to support their language teaching. (4)It is useful medium for communication with native speakers in real situations, improving writing skills, teaching of culture (Cononelos and Olivia, 1993). From statement above it is right that teacher or student can communicate with native speaker and exchange any information or insight about English language. (5)The Internet facilitates cooperative learning, encourages dialogue, and creates a more engaging classroom. (6)It can increase students’ motivation (Warschauer, 1996c). (7)Especially for teachers, they can use it for gathering information for their classes, including teaching plans and materials for classroom use. They can exchange any information with other teachers and they can consult with publisher on teaching materials about new trends of English teaching. (8)For students, they can use the Internet as a resource for their projects such as online dictionaries, thesauri, machine translation software, which enables learners to learn vocabulary while reading. (9)Last but not least, Internet enables the new form of language learning i.e. distance learning. Actually, Web has created the capability of opening classrooms to the world. Distance learning is especially of benefits in language learning because not everyone can afford to study abroad and explore the language cultures. In contrast, with the application of the Internet and the WWW, students can attend foreign language classes from home without having to go to the country where the target language is spoken. One of the main reasons for special interest of foreign language teachers in distance learning is that technology makes it.

ALIAMUTI'S ARTICLE PART II

However, the discussion would be incomplete without addressing the disadvantages or obstacles related to the issue of using computer network technology in language teaching. The use of the Internet for education is not without problems, there are some disadvantages of the internet use in second language learning, so that those can derail the learning process. (1)The most challenge is the issue of access. Learners must have computer and Internet access. As we know, that not all of schools or teachers even learners have their own computer to access Internet. (2)Communication with native speakers affects reading skills defectively (Kern, 1995). Though it is a fact that the internet improves communicational and language skills, the significant point is that teachers and learners are not sometimes aware of why, how, whom and where they teach and learn. (3)Teachers may be reluctant to use technology in classroom because many of them have not been trained to use technology. Others do not understand how to use the new technologies. (4)It takes a lot of preparation time to effectively use the Net for education. In addition to designing Internet based lesson plans, teachers may have to surf the Internet to download lesson plans and adapt them to support teachers’ curriculum objectives or visit sites to select those appropriate for class. Teachers have no choice but prepare in order to help their learners become responsible user of the Internet. (5)Criminals, marketers, and other persons can easily get information from students when they are online. These could post danger to students' lives or may even lead to litigation against the school. Parents and teachers need to supervise students' online activities. (6)The Plagiarism, this is a big problem that becomes disadvantages in using computer technology, especially Internet. Apart from Web sites that claim to help learners write term papers, there are numerous cases of students downloading information from the Net and turning them in for grades. (7)It is so easy for learner to accidentally and sometimes deliberately, access or visit inappropriate sites. Pornography site had become big disadvantages in using Internet technology that worried by teacher and parents. Learners can do the negative affect from these sites after they had seen them.
Finally, with its advantages and disadvantages, the internet has significant effects on communicating, teaching and learning. Thus, both teachers and learners should have the chance of internet accessibility, experience and familiarity with its functions in educational life. For this purpose, before using the internet in second language learning and teaching activities, teachers and learners should be instructed. This is a must to use it in language classrooms efficiently. On the other hand, it should be known that the internet is not sufficient itself to teach and learn a second language. In other words, it cannot include all teaching and learning activities and be replaced the real teaching and learning environment, such as language classroom and real-life communication. As a final point, it is possible to say that technology is not a purpose but only a tool for all humanistic necessities that has good side, advantages and bad side, disadvantages.

In a computer lab with a set of networked and connected computers. If we’re lucky enough to be in this kind of situation, then we are ideally placed to incorporate internet content into our regular teaching.
Some learners there may be some resistance to regular computer use in the classroom. We have often found, for example, that professional people view computers as useful, as well as an entertaining, tool in the classroom and that it can contribute to there is a language development in a variety of ways, for example by giving them the opportunity to build vocabulary or improve their listening skills. Lower-level classes can be engaged with visual and multimedia materials, the use of songs and other video materials.
Our choice of websites will depend largely on what we want to achieve with it. Many teachers tend to steer clear of authentic websites, and by this we mean any site not created with the language learner in mind, believing that their students will find them too difficult. A well-designed task will allow our learners to deal with authentic sites, guiding them through not only the text, but also the layout and navigation problems that may otherwise impact on their learning experience.
It is also the case that many learners’ days are far more used to working with computer-based text and information than they are to dealing with more traditional, paper-based forms of text and this familiarity with the conventions of web design can count in our favors when deciding to use authentic content from the internet.
Of course there are plenty of ELT websites whites which provide content that our learners can use, for example language practice activities they can do on their own. They provide valuable opportunities for more controlled language work and are often a great help to learners who need to brush up on certain aspects of the language or to prepare for an exam. Such sites are often ideal for homework, access to the internet permitting.
Some advantages of the authentic sites are below:
 Authentic sites can be chosen to fit our learners’ interest. This is a key factor for keeping motivation high in our electronic classroom.
 Authentic sites for possible incorporation into our teaching, try to find ones which have an easy structure and navigation, and with smaller chunks of text per page. These will be more approachable and understandable.
 Authentic sites help us to design our tasks to make them achievable, and show our learners how they can use online dictionary sites to help them –if they need them.
 Authentic sites also provide an ideal opportunity to work through the issues of ‘total comprehension’ that plenty of learners have to deal with at some point in their studies.

Authentic Websites for Teaching English

SRI WULAN SUCI

Teaching English with technology is dedicated for helping English and Language Arts teachers incorporate technology effectively into their classrooms and it is presented by EdTeachTeacher. EdTeachTeacher and TEWT are led by Tom Daccord and Justin Reich, academic technology trainers, speakers and authors.
Using websites is the one of the easiest and least stressful ways of getting started technology in the classroom. There is a large and constantly expanding collection of resources on the web, at a variety of levels and covering and amazing array of topics. We can choose from authentic (written for Internet surface in general) sources or ELT –specific sites (made by, and for, teachers), monolingual or multilingual sites, sites with multimedia, or just simple text, for those on slower connections.
The web is a source of content which can be used as a window on the wider world outside your class, and is –of course –a readily available collection of authentic material. As such, it is much larger repository of content than would previously have been readily available for us and our students.
Everybody has their favorite websites, and plenty of teachers will, at some points, have used websites in class, or taken material from the web and adapted it for teaching purposes. Take the time to share sources of content with other teachers and organize regular get-togethers where we sit down and discuss what we have found on the internet and how we have used it in class. Collaboration like this can help to reduce the time we spend searching for good materials and the time spent preparing activities or making worksheets.
Another advantage of this tool is that you don’t necessarily have to rely on a constant internet connection if we bear mind that it is possible to save local copies of websites on our computer, or print out potentially useful pages for later use. Indeed, we can use web pages in the classroom in a variety of ways:
As printed pages, with no computers. Although printing is not necessarily the cheapest option, it is certainly a viable one in places where there may be limited access to the internet. Indeed, a lot of activities using web pages will only necessities the printing of one or two pages, which can subsequently be photocopied.
With one computer with an internet connections. This can be enhanced by connecting the computer to a data projector or even an interactive whiteboard, allowing for greater visibility in class, but it is also possible to make use of a single computer on its own connected to the internet for reference.

TEACHING ENGLISH USING BLOG
Part 1

It is the topic I really like. I finally decided to choose “the using of blog for teaching English” to be discussed here. Blog as we know is the short for web log. Dudeney & Hockly (2007: 86) noted that a blog is essentially a web page with regular diary or journal entries. It is actually easy to make a blog, create an accout, and update. I am sure the high desire and motivation is the main key success for learning blog because I felt that. In addition, Stanley ((2005), [Online]) said that it requires only basic access to the Internet, and a minimum of technical to be known. Because of this, it is one of the easiest ways to publish student writing. It's almost as easy as sending an email.

Types of blogs used in language teaching
Aaron Campbell (2003) in Stanley (Online) has outlined three types of blogs for use with language classes:
1. The Tutor Blog is run by the teacher of a class. The content of this type of blog can be limited to syllabus, course information, homework, assignments, etc. Or the teacher may choose to write about his or her life, sharing reflections about the local culture, target culture and language to stimulate online and in-class discussion. In this type of blog, students are normally restricted to being able to write comments to the teacher's posts. The one example of this blog is created by Drs. Syahrial, M.Ed a lecturer of Jambi University. http://cucuzakariyya.wordpress.com/

2. The Class Blog is a shared space, with teacher and students being able to write to the main area. It is best used as a collaborative discussion space, an extra-curricular extension of the classroom. Students can be encouraged to reflect in more depth, in writing, on themes touched upon in class. Students are given a greater sense of freedom and involvement than with the tutor blog. For example: http://kelascmpd.blog.com/

3. The Learner Blog is the third type of blog and it requires more time and effort from the teacher to both set up and moderate, but is probably the most rewarding. It involves giving each student an individual blog. The benefit of this is that this becomes the student's own personal online space. Students can be encouraged to write frequently about what interests them, and can post comments on other students' blogs. For example the blog that I has; http://dimasadika.blogspot.com

Of course, teachers who decide to use blogs often use a combination of Tutor or Class blog and Learner blogs, with hyperlinks connecting them.

Three main reasons for using blog
• To encourage a process-writing approach.
Because students are writing for publication, they are usually more concerned about getting things right, and usually understand the value of rewriting more than if the only audience for their written work is the teacher. The example about this can be looked in http://unjawriters.wordpress.com/ . This blog managed by Dedy Kurniawan, S.S, a writing lecturer of English department University of Jambi. Their students (First year student) have to submit their writing. Other students, the lecturer and the viewer can give the comment.

Dimas Adika mengatakan...

Part 2
• To provide extra reading practice for students.
This reading can be produced by the teacher, other students in the same class, or, in the case of comments posted to a blog, by people from all over the world.

• To guide students to online resources appropriate for their level.
The Internet has a bewildering array of resources that are potentially useful for your students. The problem is finding and directing your learners to them. For this reason, you can use your tutor blog as a portal for your learner.

Some ideas for activities
Stanley ((2005), [Online]) in www.teachingenglish.org.uk created 4 ideas about this.
• Mystery guest. Invite another teacher or someone from another school or country as a mystery guest to your blog. Ask the students to engage him or her in dialogue and guess their identity.
• Project work. A blog is an ideal space for developing a project, especially if the project is a shared one between several classes or even classes in different countries. The example of this is also in http://unjawriters.wordpress.com/
• International link-ups. Contact another educational establishment to see if they are interested in a joint blogging project. Students can write about their lives, culture, interests, etc, and be encouraged to read about the other class and respond by writing comments.
• Photoblog. If you plan on using photographs in your blog, there are lots of tools available to help you. Flickr (http://www.flickr.com) makes publishing photographs to blogs easy. If you want to make photographs central to the blog, however, it is better to use a blogging tool such as Buzznet (http://www.buzznet.com), which is a photo publishing tool and blog rolled into one.

All the explanations from Dudene, Hockly, Stanley and me are the prove that teaching English with blogging are challenging and interesting. Blog is one of the newest technology in this century, so let we introduce that for our students. Whether they know using blog before teching English using blog is started, it will be good and the learning is absolutely will run well.

Part 1

Internet exists as a multifunctional media. This media is present many information that needed by society. In addition to presenting a variety of information, the Internet also provides accounts for specific purposes. Example facebook account which aims to connect people around the world. And there are many other accounts.

Internet is needed in education, because the internet allows students to communicate with sources of knowledge more broadly than just using conventional media.

Internet technology makes learning process more simple, because using this method, we can learn without requiring a lot of energy and cost, a student will not need to come to a place of course for learning. It means that, he's saving money and time.

So, how is the form of education in the Internet ? there are many method to get an education on the internet :

1. By using the mailing list or chat

This method is often called a talk and Chalk. An experts and students can discuss together, condition is that they include members of the same mailing list. Features of this method is able to eliminate the distance between the experts and students, pleasant atmospheres and informal on the mailing lists turned out to be an effective way of learning

2. Using Blogs

This free domain have much advantages in education, for example, teachers can provide materials through the blog by posting a material that wants to teach, and give the task. Then students can learn the material at home and collect their respective tasks through her blog. By giving comments. By klik this link we can know much more about using blog for education.
http://belajarbahasainggrismandiri.blogspot.com/2010/03/belajar-bahasa-inggris-10000-jam.html

3. Facebook

By creating a group on facebook we can discuss with all members of the group without boundaries of space and time. Discussions can be conducted via chat or give the postings on the discussion themes to be discussed. I will give one sample of using facebook for education by klik this link
http://www.facebook.com/english4free?ref=ts&v=wall

4. Utilizing PDF search Engine

A lot of material that is free downloadable in PDF Search Engine. A student who wants to just type the material that he wants to search. Then match the material with the result and then just klik download. After that, print and the material can be directly studied, and many more.
This is a sample of PDF search engine as education resources

In general, the benefits of the internet for education are to complement the information and means of discussions without need for space and time. Because using the Internet we can take the information that developed without limit of time and place, get the complete source, increasing the learning activities and increasing knowledge. From some of the benefits of the above, there are some good benefits for teachers or students themselves include:

For teachers the Internet offers the opportunity to obtain:

Develop their Ability
(A) Increase their knowledge
(B) Sharing resources among Collegial / peer development
(C) In cooperation with teachers from overseas
(D) The opportunity to publish / announce LIVE
(E) Maintain communication regularly
(F) Participate in forums with colleagues both locally and internationally.
Source of teaching materials:
(A). Teachers can access the new lesson plan and new methodology
(B). Publish and share resources.
For students, Internet offers the opportunity to obtain:

Self learning:
(A). Increased knowledge
(B). Interactive learning
(C). Develop research skills
Enrich themselves:

E-Learning for Teaching and Learning English

Today’s teaching and learning activity is not only happens by using manual way, such as face to face in a class, write on the white board, and explain the material by using long speech but also using other more modern ways. It is learning English by using technology. In fact, technology is not become a strange thing again for every peoples in the world. All in all, almost schools in the world are using it in learning process. One of way of teaching and learning English using technology is e-learning.
E-Learning is an electronic learning. It defined as all forms of electronic supported learning and teaching, which are procedural in character and aim to effect the construction of knowledge with reference to individual experience, practice and knowledge of the learner. E-learning refers to using electronic applications and processes to learn. It commonly used to distance learning and flexible learn, but it also can be used in face-to-face teaching.
The using of this E-learning as a learning tool can increase opportunities for students in learning English. It can be very beneficial and successfully used on it. It may make the learner to learn and study in their own home or place by using computer without must attending the class physically. They can open e-learning in whenever they are, in an internet café, home, mall, and others. So, they will have no worry if they are left out of their material because they can access it and review the material again. More over, by using this e-learning they can not only review the material and see course content, such as document, audio, and video lecturers, but also do activities such as Quizzes, Questionnaires and tests. Beside that, they also can use communication tools on it like discussion forums or text and audio chat. It is very interesting and have complete menu, so that the learner can be easier to study. It will be very helpful for them.
Other advantages of using this e-learning is that the learner can check the module or resources of the materials that is recommended by the teacher, take the assignments and test that should be done, and also see the discussion schedule with the teacher. E-learning also can be a good communication for the learner and the teacher. It can be a tool for learner to ask Question about the materials. All students can participate on it. It of course different with face-to-face or conventional meeting that usually dominates with clever and smart students. In this case, the students with low ability can freely ask to the teacher without feel shame and less self-confidence with their friends.
But unfortunately, e-learning not only gives some advantages but also it has some disadvantages of it. In e-learning, the teacher’s attendance decrease automatically. The learner will often meet the teacher. They only interact by using internet; it is e-learning process. It is because technology takes teacher’s position. Teacher not again explains the materials in front of the learner. All materials are has been written in e-learning, so that the learner should active check and open e-learning so that they can update their information and learning routinely.
In fact, E-learning is very beneficial and successfully used, but we should remember that it is only a tool. It is used to get the purpose of teaching and learning process. Therefore, E-learning not must used in a pure manner. We can combine it with another kind of teaching and learning. E-Learning gives an alternatives way to learn. The using of e-learning optimally itself is depend on some condition that is should completed. But, whatever way that is chosen are hopefully can help the learner learn their study. With optimal using of e-learning, learner can be easier to get their lesson. Hope it will be more beneficial and helpful for education.

Teaching Learning with Technology

Technology in language teaching is not new. The development of technology is very fast. The development of it is applied in teaching activities in order to get a better result. Teaching is not only paper, white/black board, marker, mapping and pictures. Time passed by, teaching has an amazing development. Now we can use technology as a media in teaching, especially teaching language in classroom.
Technology could be one of an important factor in teaching language. Because, we can find another references and get other information to teach in class. The use of technology in the classroom is becoming increasingly important. There are some reasons for this statement:
 Internet access – either in private homes, or at Internet cafes – is becoming increasingly available to learners.
 English, as international language, is being used in technologically mediated contexts.
In Indonesia, especially we can find that our government is working hard to develop the quality of education in Indonesia. Such as computer and Internet connection to use in teaching language. It can make the students interested to learn about language.
It seems that technology could be an important factor in teaching language. And in Indonesia, the technology also use in every schools. They can find a lots of information and increase their knowledge, because their media to increase it not only from the text that given by the teacher, but also from the technology that have much significant development.
Well, I think the technology give us the advantages in learning. We can find a lots of information by using the technology. And in Indonesia itself, the development of technology can find in every schools and it becomes successful thing in teaching, because the supporting of the media in teaching is using the technology.
Jasmansyah, M.Pd, is the captain of English Teachers Forum (MGMP B. Inggris) SMA, Head of Indonesia Teachers Club (KGI) Sukabumi, in his paper argued that the best way to teach in classroom is computer and using other technology, such as Internet service.
The computer is also more flexible, because computer is a more interactive aid compared with others, such as tape recorder, film projectors, and such common equipment – marker and white board. Books and recording can tell a student what the rules are and what the right solutions are, but they cannot analyze the specific mistakes the student has made and react in a manner which leads him not only correct solution.
The teachers can have their students learn by exploring web tasks online. The computer may act as a teacher or tutor, providing material, guiding a student how to learn it, and giving more information and explanations. It can be used to generate example, to illustrate certain operations, or to stimulate conversation.
For writing skills, now day the majority of the students – mainly in primary education are used to using a keyboard. So the process of writing is not problem. So teachers can take advantage of enjoyment that the students find in manipulating computers. Writing an essay on paper has not the same attractiveness for them than writing it with a word processor.
The reasons by using computer in writing skill because the mistakes can be corrected more easily. On the other hand, students do not have to give much importance to the order in which they write their ideas, since they can easily change text order, and thus rearrange ideas, as many times as they want. Beside the grammar and spelling correction devices that word processors incorporate can be active whenever teachers consider necessary.
So, as a conclusion is, teaching with technology helps teacher and student find more information and knowledge in order to improve their knowledge. Because the technology give us more facility that we can not find in other media.

TEACHING-LEARNING ENGLISH WITH TECHNOLOGY IN ENGLISH DEPARTMENT OF JAMBI UNIVERSITY
Technology is the usage and knowledge of tools, techniques, and crafts or it is a systems or methods of organization. Technology can also be said as a material product. The word technology comes from Greek ‘technologia’. The word ‘techno’ means craft and the word ‘logia’ means the study of something of the branch of discipline knowledge.
Technology, specifically Information Communication and Technology affects human in many aspects of life. It also affects much in education field in all over the world. People use ICT in teaching, learning, getting information, submit the tasks and many else.
We know that the development of science and technology, especially in Information Communication and Technology is very fast. The development of using technology is also used in teaching-learning activities in order to get a better teaching-learning process and result. Teaching-learning process is not only a matter of paper, whiteboard, map, pictures, and tasks. Teaching-learning process is a matter of transferring and receiving knowledge.
For this, lecturers of English Department should use effective teaching aids. Teaching aid here is a tool that is used by the lecturers to help the students improve their studying, reading, writing, speaking, and many other skills. It also helps the students to reinforce or illustrate a skill, fact, or idea, and relieve anxiety, fear, or boredom.
There are many kind of teaching aids that the lecturers and students can use in service of technology. The use of technology in the classroom is becoming increasingly important. Using technology in English Department is a more interactive compared with other such as marker and whiteboard. Today, the development of our teaching-learning using technology or ICT is very good. We have used many technology medium in our educational processes like computer or notebook.
For example there are many other programs that offer the possibility of listening English which mainly with an American accent in the case of the majority of games. Most people love games. These programs not only service as games, it is also used to potentate the target language in any language grammar. We also can use computer or notebook with in-focus for teacher teaching process or students presentation.
This flexible media is also flexible for the students; we can work on our speed at the time that is best for us. In the case of writing on a computer or notebook, the lecturers can take advantage of enjoyment that the students find in manipulating computer. Writing an essay on a paper has not the same attractiveness for us than writing like this with word processor.
To this, we have to add the advantages of the word processor attack to writing task. First of all, mistake can be corrected much more easily. On the other hand, we are as the students do not have to give much importance to the order in which we write our ideas, since we can easily change text order, and thus rearrange the ideas as many times as we want. Besides, the grammar and spelling correction devices that the word processor can be active whenever the lecturers consider necessary. This way made us much more aware of the mistakes or error we made and have the possibility of other checking or trying to guess the correct option.
Also, in our activity word processor plays an important role both for the lecturers and the students. For the lecturer, they can prepare, create, store and share materials. While, for the students, using a word processor program on the other hand can be simple, because we can practice our writing skills, grammar, and many other language points as well as to present our work in the class like presenting a topic. We are so familiar in using word processing program in most of everyday tasks.

Then, we also have internet access in our faculty. We can use this everyday in class. By this service, we can easily connect to the internet when we try to find any information that is related to the materials of the day. We can share it with other students and our lecturer and discuss it together in the classroom. By wi-fy, we can go to any website we want to. This ICT tool please not only the students, but also the lecturers to improve their methodology and motivate both of the subjects to get the hottest news and information in English field in any website.
We know that English is an international language and being used in technologically mediated context. It means that we are as the users of English should know how to use technology, ICT especially. Internet presents us with new opportunities for authentic tasks and material as well as access to a wealth of ready-made ELT materials. This is not only for the lecturers themselves, but also for the students of English.
More, we can use internet to find published materials such as course books and resources books. We can find new ways for practicing language and assessing performance. By this, the lecturer can perform more attractively and the students can study more creatively.
For the lecturers, making new materials from scratch can be time consuming both for paper-based classes and for classes using technology. Lecturers need to collaborate in schools and poor resources and lesson plan also. This complex duty can be done by using techno-based resources, because most commercial and famous books provide in internet nowadays.
Next, we are the students really realize the function of every website or internet. We usually come to any website to find tasks, materials or information we are searching for. We realize that using website is one of the easiest and least stressful way of getting started with technology in the classroom. We have access to find any resources on the web at any level and topic.
Both the lecturer and the students can find information and materials for authentic sources or ELT-specific sites, monolingual or multilingual sites, sites with multimedia, or only simple text like we do in almost tasks. We are able to make collaboration materials from the websites and the knowledge or books that we have. Collaboration likes this can help to reduce the time we spend in searching good and appropriate materials. This is a collaborative solution that we can make and use by using websites in internet.
In this course, Material Design and Development, the lecturer has introduced us another technology service of internet, that is webquests. Firstly, the students did not know it, but after having explanation from the lecturer, we know that these internet services are mini project in which a large percentage of the input and materials is supplied from internet itself. Webquests can be lecturer-made or the student-made.
It depends on the learning activity that the lecturer decides on. A webquest is an inquiry-oriented activity in which some or all the information that the students interact with comes from internet resources. As the lecturer has explained, there are five majors sections in webquest, they are: home, introduction, process, tasks and evaluation. This kind of ICT tool is a good methodology for creating and learning English both for the lecturers and the students.

We also use a very familiar internet service, that is email. This useful service enable us to keep in touch with the colleagues, lecturers, and other people all around the world via mailing list and discussion group. The biggest advantage of using email is that the technology is relatively simple to use and most of the students have known and have it, so the lecturer can teach easily.
The last and the hottest ICT tools that we have is web-blogs. Exactly, the lecturer asked us to submit our mid-task assignment in an MDD blog. This internet tool helps us to connect, communicate and to collaborate online with our lecturer. This is a kind of web page with regular diary or journal entries. By blogs, we can write simple text about our comment or essay of the course and we also can send audio and video blogs here.
All in all, we have use many ICT tools in our teaching-learning process in everyday class. Each ICT tool enable us to work, teach and study easier and actively than the past time. Hopefully, we will improve our methodology and using of ICT in our department, especially in educative technology for getting more qualified materials, information and methodology in English.

Teaching English is a n interest activities. There are many approaches and methods from which to choose. Teaching English to children is challenges to interact with young students and amazing. Teacher should take an instructional approach that foster positive experiences and provides a supportive learning environment, rather than placing emphasis on correctness or grades.
Luckily, today’s technologically-advanced world, the recent proliferation of computer-based curricula in school systems-including for very young learner (children)-has opened doors to English teachers all over the world. Technology give us all over the easier thing and in all aspect of our lives. May be we fell uncomfortable with the advanced of the technology, but I think, whether we like it or not, computers are permeating very aspect of our daily lives, and children would not know what to do without it. As a teachers, we are not only to teach, but to adopt new methods which are more appropriate to the context in which we are living- and in which our students are growing up.
Teachers have stimulating tools and rich libraries of multi-media materials available to them to better adapt educational content to the specific needs and preferences of the learner. Internet-based communication can all add vast depth to traditional instruction materials – such as text books. We as a teacher can adopt or take some information or something that we use in teaching methods. Incorporating internet into the language curriculum, therefore, engages students in more communicative, authentic, contextualized, and interactive activities that practice all four skills in an integrated fashion, and even provide instant feedback.
In addition, use internet not only provides stimulating and effective instruction in a manner to which most young students are already accustomed due to their extracurricular activities, but also allows teachers flexibility with course content, and provides a learning environment in which students can begin to develop autonomy.

TEACHING ENGLISH WITH TECHNOLOGY

Technology is the usage and knowledge of tools, techniques, and crafts, or is systems or methods of organization, or is a material product (such as clothing) of these things.
Firstly, in era globalization most of people used technology. Nowadays they used to technology to teach the students. In order the students can more creative and innovative to doing something. Teaching English with Technology is dedicated to helping English & Language Arts teachers incorporate technology effectively into their classrooms. Learn about new and emerging technologies such as blogs, podcasts, wikis, and online social networks, and explore innovative ways of integrating them into the curriculum! Technologies significantly affect human as well as other animal species' ability to control and adapt to their natural environments. The human species' use of technology began with the conversion of natural resources into simple tools. The prehistorical discovery of the ability to control fire increased the available sources of food and the invention of the wheel helped humans in travelling in and controlling their environment. Recent technological developments, including the printing press, the telephone, and the Internet, have lessened physical barriers to communication and allowed humans to interact freely on a global scale. However, not all technology has been used for peaceful purposes; the development of weapons of ever-increasing destructive power has progressed throughout history, from clubs to nuclear weapons.
Technology has affected society and its surroundings in a number of ways. In many societies, technology has helped develop more advanced economies (including today's global economy) and has allowed the rise of a leisure class. Many technological processes produce unwanted by-products, known as pollution, and deplete natural resources, to the detriment of the Earth and its environment. Various implementations of technology influence the values of a society and new technology often raises new ethical questions. Examples include the rise of the notion of efficiency in terms of human productivity, a term originally applied only to machines, and the challenge of traditional norms.

USING TECHNOLOGY AS A MEDIA IN TEACHING ENGLISH TERM
By:
SUSILOWATI

Nowadays, teaching with using technology become very popular. Many schools or universities, even course institutes begin to having class “technologically”, which means they learn the subjects using technology such as website, email (electronic mail), blog, internet based-task, power point, etc as the media. Taking the examples, not so far is a blog we made in Material Design and Development subject (MDD) where we as the learners of this subject have to post our article there as the mid-term assignment. Also a blog made by Mr. Dedy Kurniawan which linked in http://unjawriters.wordpress.com/ as a media for Universitas Jambi’s student to express their ideas in writing. This model of teaching had been done in most of educational institutes in their teaching process in the world.
Actually, the using of technology can’t be separated from the reason why, the advantages and the benefits in its learning process. In this article, I want to explain some cases related to the using of technology in teaching English; why we use it? What are the advantages? What are the benefits?
Why we should use technology in teaching English? The simple answer is because students need technology to pursue meaningful careers in their future. We should also teach the useful technology as well as we teach the English. Moreover, in ESP class, teaching English using media is very helpful. A teacher in this class could give the learners some websites useful in their own field, such as business sites for businessman and woman, engineering sites for engineers or automotive specialist, medical sites for doctor or nurses, etc. The giving such materials can help the teacher to build the argument with open source software which can effectively teach the learner about the materials.
The advantages of using technology in the teaching, besides give the student knowledge about the new technology which could be useful in their careers future, also make the learning more motivate. Learning using technology such website, power point, increase the interest of the student in the materials teach. For example, with using technology such as blog or websites, students can develop their written communication skills quite readily. Logically, when students have real audience to write to and have purpose in writing to the audience, they will more careful in using their vocabulary, syntax and grammar. It is motivate them to be good in writing skill. And then the using of technology can increase their achievement.
Overall, using technology in teaching English is very helpful. It brings advantage to the student in mastering the technology used which could be useful in their careers later. Others, using technology in teaching also bring some innovation in learning itself. It brings something ‘new’ there to motivates the student to improve their basic skill of English so that their achievement will be increased.

Using Website for Developing Student’s Skill in EFL Context

In learning English as Foreign Language (EFL) process, students construct a new language. They learn a language that different with their first language. In this context, students should have a good ability in speaking, reading, listening, and writing by using English as well as they use their first language. Unfortunately, some students opine that it is so difficult to study English because they feel that English is still “foreign” for them. Because of that, teacher should do some revolution in teaching English in order to make the students more interested to study English.
One interested way that can be used in language teaching is by using technology, exactly it called as Information and Communications Technology (ICT). ICT can help students to develop their skills in learning-teaching process. One useful way is using websites in classroom.
Using websites is one of easiest way in getting some information, beside that it also can be use for student to practice their English skills. There are useful websites to search student’s need. Teacher can choose from authentic sources or English Language Teaching (ELT) - specific sites, monolingual and multilingual sites, or sites with multimedia or just simple text.
There are some tips for the teacher to find useful websites to help your teaching process. First, teacher can consider “search engines”. Although there is a large variety of a search engine, perhaps the most well-known is Google (www.google.com) which currently indexes over twelve billion web pages. A search engine is look like a telephone directory that gives more information about the entry. But with over twelve billion pages to choose from, it is not as easy as a phone directory. So, you should input specific phrase to get the information that you need. Second, teacher can use subject guides such as Yahoo! (www.yahoo.com). Yahoo! divide it’s contain into subject area and subdivision of subject area. And the last, you can use real language searches such as Ask (www.ask.com). It allows the user to type simple question as search queries.
After finding the websites, teacher should evaluate the websites by considering who wrote the page, is the page content reliable and factually correct, is the content up-to-date, is the site interesting and stimulating, or does the site work well.

Part II
Teacher can use the websites for developing student’s skill. For reading skill, the teacher can give student the newest information from the website to read. Not only information, you also can give student the literary word such as poem, short story, or novel. You can download some E-Book or flying books for serve information and literary words to your students. Beside that, there are many reading question that can use as their task or drill to develop student’s reading skill.
Writing is a complicated skill for student. Some of them think if writing is difficult activity. For developing student’s writing skill, the first way is by explaining them that writing is not difficult as they think. There are some websites that explain if writing is a fun activity, so the student will interest in writing. In addition, there are also some exercises to develop student’s writing skill.
Some website like youtube provided some videos that useful for student. Teacher can download some videos there. Visual media is one of effective media to teach language. From the video teacher can develop speaking and listening skill. By watching the video that use English, students will try to listen carefully. Beside that they also can learn how foreigners speak. They will learn the pronunciation, grammar, intonation, and so on.
All in all, websites can give many advantages in teaching English as the foreign language. It is very useful for both of the teacher and students. Teacher can get appropriate websites to help their teaching process while student can develop their skill such as reading, writing, listening and speaking from websites. Does it a good way to teach students in EFL context? Hope so..

How to Use Technology in teaching English in the Classroom

Technology in language teaching is not new. Technology plays an important role in student learning in the classrooms of today. Technology can be used to teach important concepts in almost every subject area. It is important that teachers become comfortable with many forms of technology so that they can use it in the classroom for learning and assessment to increase student knowledge and proficiency.

There are some technologies that we can use in teach English in the classroom:

Web quests and the Internet
Web quests are learning tools that are useful to students in a variety of ways. The Web quests enable students to learn how to follow some directions from the teacher and also the student can conduct research. The Web quests also help children to develop critical thinking skills and creative solutions for problems they might encounter during their investigations (make the student try to find and thinking the answer of the problems). Web quests are often done in groups to encourage teamwork and participation (because as we know that technology still hard to adapt to the student). Because they require the use of the internet, it is important to ensure that students only have access to appropriate browsers to ensure their safety. This, because as we that now so many browser that not appropriate for the student, that the teacher duty.

Interactive Websites
Using web sites is one of the easiest ways of getting started with technology in the classroom. One of some technology that we can use is interactive websites. Interactive websites can help engage children visually and kinesthetically. Media that use visually and kinesthetically are television and video games. Because television and video games have increased the speed at which children, obtain information, these types of websites help to engage them more easily than static text and build upon prior knowledge stores. Math, reading, spelling, grammar and history can be fun when they are introduced in a way that is engaging for children. For instance, children might read a story online and complete a series of questions through related online game play.

Virtual Museum Tours
The other technology is Virtual museums Tours. In addition, children can experience places and events through virtual museums and time-line interactive video that would normally be inaccessible to them. Virtual museums offer galleries where students can see great works of art in distant countries. This is can open their mind about the other country galleries.
Computer Games
Children learn using all 5 senses and by building on their experiences in their daily activity. The media that obtain of 5 senses is Computer, especially the games. Computer games can also teach children everything from phonics to mathematical concepts. Because these games mimic video games, they are fun and interesting for students so make them want to learn the lesson and not make them bored in learning. The interactive properties of these games makes them so engaging that students may be more likely to learn.
Video in the Classroom
The other technologies that also we can use in teach the student is using video. Video is a good teaching tool that can be useful in the classroom for a wide variety of lessons. There are so many internet resources that give children information on a wide variety of subject areas such as science, history and the arts. These video lessons can be incorporated into an overall lesson plan as an added enhancement for visual and audio stimulation. Videos are available various formats and time increments, so they can often be use in learning process.
Teaching Students Using Technology
Technology is becoming increasingly important in both our personal and professional lives, and our learners are using technology more and more. Technologies are developing almost daily and can be very useful for teaching students, especially in teaching English. They should be combined with traditional teaching methods and lessons to make lessons comprehensive, engaging and interactive. Technology can contribute to almost any lesson, and make learning more fun and engaging for students. It can also help them make connections to their own world and open their eyes to different ideas and cultures. In short, technology is an invaluable classroom tool.

Using M-Learning (Mobile Learning) for Teaching English

Online learning classes, schools and tools are solution to many educational challenges. The students who lives far away from school or college can study from home by online learning. One kind of the online learning is M-Learning or mobile learning.Mobile learning can be useful devices for students with special needs. Good IT support is needed. It is necessary to have enough devices for classroom use and bring new technology into the classroom. Mobile learning supports the learning process rather than being integral to it. Mobile learning can be used to the group of students or personal.

The term M-Learning, or “mobile learning” , has different meanings for different communities. Although related to e-learning and distance education, it is distinct in its focus on learning across contexts and learning with mobile devices. One definition of mobile learning is : any sort of learning that happens when the learner is not at a fixed, predetermined location, or learning that happens when the learner takes advantege of the learning opportunities offered by mobile technologies. In the words mobile learning decreases limitation of learning location with the mobility of general portable devices. The term covers : learning with portable technologies including but not limited to handheld computers, mp3 players, notebooks and mobile phones. M-learning focuses on the mobility of the learner, interacting with portable technologies, and learning that reflects a focus on how society and its institutions can accommodate and support an increasingly mobile population. M-learning is convenient in that it is accessible from virtually anywhere. M-learning, like other forms of E-Learning, is also collaborative, sharing is also collaborative, sharing is almost instantaneous among everyone using the same content, which leads to the reception of instant feedback and tips. M-Learning also brings strong portability by replacing books and notes with small RAMs, filled with tallored learning contents. In addition, it is simple to utilize mobile learning for a more effective and entertaining experience. In the classroom students using mobile device such as Pocket PC in the classroom to group collaboration between students and teachers. The mobile phone (through text SMS notices) can be used especially for distance education.

Teacher has decided to introduce some mobile learning into their teaching. They want use of mobile and handheld technology with learners to principle and coherent. We need to have a good idea of why teachers are getting their learners into m-learning and what benefits it. And how we use of m-learning.Why do we want to use mobile learning? Here are some possible reason:
we like technology. We want to try something new with our learners. We have seen our learners all have smart phone. Why not get them using for learning? A few of your learners have asked you to recommend apps, games and other mobile content they can use in classroom. We use mobile learning effectively with our learners in the classroom. It may be easier to start by simply recommending a number of good apps to our learners for their own informal learning. Make this optional –encourage only students interested enough to try this. The enthusiasm may spread to other learners or not. Mobile self-study may not be everyone’s cup of tea. But it may be some learners’s cup of tea. And that’s better than no tea at all.

Unknown mengatakan...

PART 2
What handheld devices will students use? Smart phone or netbook. If only some learners have handheld devices, or if everyone has a different make of phone? How effective can classroom based mobile work be if everyone has different device and operating system? It makes a lot of sense for learners to use their own devices for out of class, optional, on the move mobile learning, and class sets in the classroom for more formal learning activities. What about the content that will be used on the mobile devices? Is it going to be rich content that includes multimedia (images, audio, video), the chance to interact with others via social networking, and access to web resources? Or are we going to focus your learners on discrete content such quizzes, sms, simple games, and apps? Or both? Given the danger of assumsing that mobile learning only means sms or apps. It makes sense to at least explore rich content options, and to refer your learners to these both for in class work and for out of class self study. Don’t make the mistake of thinking mobile=apps, or mobile=sms.

And how is this mobile content going to reach your learners? Are you the teacher goingto ‘push’ content out to your learners? In other words, are you going to be responsible for sending mobile-friendly content such as quizzes, sms-based content, audio, and video for your leaners? In other words, are they going to search for and access mobile-friendly content on their own, depending on their own interests and needs. Will you focus mainly on push content for learners of class work. Mobile devices and personal technologies that can support mobile learning, include:
- Personal Digital Assistant (PDA), in the classroom and outdoors.
- Mobile phone, camera phone, and smartPhone.
- Personal audio player, e.g. for listening to audio recordings of lectures.
- Wi-Fi gives access to instructors and recources via internet.
- GPRS mobile data service, provides high speed connection and data transfer rate.

Teaching with Technology
Technology in language teaching is not new. Indeed, technology has been around in language teaching for decades- one might argue for centuries, we classify the blackboard as a form of technology. Tape recorders, language laboratories and video have been in use since the 1960s and 1970s, and are still used in classroom around the world.
In recent years integration of instructional technology (IT) into the university classroom has become a significant part of education. As such resources for educating and assisting faculty in this new arena have become crucial. Workshops on how to use software are not always enough. Teachers need to understand the ways in which these new tools can make a significant difference in student learning.
TEP's IT support staffs are available to assist instructors in exploring different potential technologies that create useful and productive student learning experiences.
This section of the website will:
• offer instructors step-by-step instructions for using some campus-wide available technologies (such as Blackboard and PowerPoint),
• offer suggestions for how instructors might initiate and guide particular technology-supported learning activities,
• present the different roles technology might play in a classroom, and
• Promote thinking and reflection about the best uses of technology in the classroom.
Learning is seen as essentially a social process, requiring communication among learner, teacher and others. This social process cannot effectively be replaced by technology, although technology may facilitate it.

Computer Technology in Education
As the times change, so must an educator’s style of teaching. Computer technology can play a large role in this change. There are many reasons and ways schools can introduce this technology into their curriculum. There will be three of these reasons and ways discussed in the following pages.

In today’s society, many people believe it is time for school reform. The problem is employers are concerned that high school graduates do not have the necessary skills to be successful at a job when they graduate. Some researchers say that these reform efforts need to focus on the root causes of school problems (International). According to a California study by Paplin and Weeres in 1992, students and teachers saw little meaning in what they were asked to study. Students also wanted more activities and more opportunities to share ideas with classmates. This is not to say the basic skills are not important, but schools are not venturing much beyond the basic skills in providing a school-to-work transition. Before graduates can begin working they need to master foundation skills and competences. The three foundation skills are basic skills, thinking skills, and personal qualities. The competencies describe what people actually.
Advancements in networking within information technology have connected more institutions and their staffs and students, and therefore made a greater amount of information and resources available. For example, a thesis written by a professor at one university previously may have been shelved or archived only at that university's library. Now, it becomes easy for a student in a university on the other side of the world to have access to that thesis with a simple download.
By using information technology, teachers and students are more connected in and out of the classroom. For example, Seton Hill University's program "The Griffin Technology Advantage," which supplies each student with a laptop and a tablet computer for school and personal use, aims to encourage "creative literacy" by connecting students and staff to a wider community outside of school, along with allowing students to work with a technology they may very well need in the workforce.

TEACHING ENGLISH WITH TECHNOLOGY: USING ON-LINE CHAT IN LANGUAGE TEACHING

SITI ANNISYAH

ENGLISH DEPARTMENT’07 CLASS B

Now a days, the internet grows in this world. There are more and more opportunities to students to study English using a wide variety of types of internet resources. Especially for English language students in countries where English as a foreign language. These resources are important, because they greatly increase the opportunities for using English.
One potentially useful internet activity for language students is chatting, that is communicating in real time by typing message into a computer, so that it can immediately be read on other computers screens, even computer screens in other part of the world. Some sites on the internet are specifically intended for non-native English speakers to communicate in English.
There are several different types of educational that one can set up with learners, first free topic chat that is there is no topic or agenda set for the chat, and no specific moderator role. Such a chat might be learners meeting in pairs or small groups via an instant messaging program to practice English together.
Second are collaborative, task-oriented chats. That is learners meet via chat out of class to complete a real task, such as preparing a PowerPoint presentation or putting together the results of a survey which they will then present to peers in the classroom. Typically, the learners are preparing some sort of product together as part of project work, and will probably have previously emailed a document or PowerPoint presentation to each other, which they can then refer to during the chat itself.

PART II

Third are informative or academic chats. This kind of chat disseminates information. For example, a learner or teacher gives a presentation on a topic via chat. This is then followed by a question and answer stage.
The last is practise chats. These chat will practise a specific or form of language, or a specific skill or strategy, and will probably take place out of class time. Example are: a voice chat practising a telephone job interview or indeed any telephone situation; practising communication strategies such as circumlocution to describe an object; practising a specific language form such as the past tense, or future tenses for predictions; and practising pronunciation features via voice chat.
There are also some reasons why use chat in language teaching. A teacher deciding whether to use chat with learners who meet face-to-face on a regular basis will probably want to ask the following questions: does using text or voice chat with learners improve their English? What kind of English should learners use in chat? What technical skills do teachers and learners need to be able to use chat? What benefits does the use of chat bring to the classroom? And is it better use text or voice chat with learners?
To start using chat in the classroom, we would suggest a carefully stage approach, which will help get both learners and teachers familiar with the chat program, how it works and what it can be used for. We would suggest starting out with text chat, and then moving on to voice chat once learners have had a chance to practice with that chat. Ideally, using chat with learners would include a real use of chat, for example chatting to learners in a different country, or using chat in class with your learners a couple of times, to help them become comfortable with it, so that they can then go on and use it outside class.
So, teaching English using chat is best way if we know how to use it. And it is the best way for us as the teacher to use it in teaching speaking also. If we do best in our teaching activity we would get best output may be.

Teaching by using Internet
Part I

Nowadays internet is very familiar for every people in the world. We can use internet for many things. We can find job, information and knowledge. Beside that, we can communicate with other people in the world. The most important things, internet can be used in teaching and learning process as media.
The using of internet as a media in an education can be very useful and beneficial. First, internet can become a motivating factor in learning process. The Internet can act as a motivating tool for many students. Students are very captivated with technology. So, the teacher will be easier to teach them. The second advantage of using internet in teaching is internet as a fast communication. The Internet promotes fast communication across geographical barriers. The students can join collaborative projects that involve students from different states, countries or continents. This type of learning experience was not possible before the Internet. The third advantage of using internet for teaching is to access the information. The internet allows easy access to information all over the world. It complements the library. If all schools are linked to the Internet and all teachers are trained on how to use the Internet for teaching, the gaps between students in poor and rich schools would be narrowed. The forth is internet as interactive activities. There are many interactive activities on the Internet for students of all ages. And the last is internet as cooperative learning. The Internet facilitates cooperative learning, encourages dialogue, and creates a more engaging classroom.
But unfortunately, internet not only gives us advantages but also disadvantages. The use of the Internet for education is not without problems. It comes with a price to providing equipment, facilities, and adequate support staff is very expensive. Beside that, internet also full of plagiarism. It apart from Web sites that claim to help students write term papers, there are numerous cases of students downloading information from the internet and turning them in for grades. Internet also gives inappropriate site for students. It is very easy for students to accidentally, and sometimes deliberately, visit inappropriate sites. Moreover, anybody with a Web server can put any information on the Internet. The levels of some write-ups are beyond the education level of most students, and are therefore subject to misinterpretation. In facts, Students who cannot discriminate against information may become influenced in an inappropriate manner. There also other disadvantages of using internet as a media in teaching and learning; Lack of Student-Teacher Interaction. The teacher not again can stand in front of a class, then teacher can easily recognize students who don't understanding certain aspects of the lesson by their facial expressions. This personal touch is not available if the course if 100% online.

Actually, to get the purpose of teaching by using internet itself, we need some key.
a. Knowledge and Usage of the Internet and its services. Many of the Internet projects require students to communicate with students from different states or countries via electronic mail or mailing lists or other news groups.
b. Collaboration with other teachers. Teacher should collaborate with other teachers in the school and in the system. Cooperation and mutual understanding is very important especially when the school has few Internet accounts.
c. Advanced planning. A teacher who does not plan on how to teach a given lesson is planning to fail, to paraphrase a popular statement. Teacher should visit the Internet to look for sites, evaluate materials, and choose the appropriate sites for your class. This way you can be sure that the resources from the site support your curriculum goals.
d. Efficient use of technology: Students should be trained to use the available technology efficiently. For example, if you require your students to join a mailing list, then they must be trained to use e-mail efficiently and ethically.
e. Using the Internet as a Tool. The Internet should be a part of an integrated teaching system. It should be seen as a tool that supports and enhances learning and not as a means by itself.
In short, the using of internet as a media in teaching and learning process is very beneficial and useful for students. But, we as a teacher should remember that the internet is not only give the advantages but also the negative effect and disadvantages. The most important things when the teacher used internet as a media in teaching is teacher should have the key to solve the problem that maybe appear. So, the purpose of teaching and learning process itself can be successfully get by the teacher and the learner.

Materials
There are many learning materials to help students to study English. Some of them are just traditional drill types, but some are very creative and attractive, so that students will have higher motivation to learn English. Of course, you can make your own materials and post them on the web. Simple web pages are easy to make, but complicated and artistic web pages are not only difficult but also time-consuming to make. We have some collections of links at http://ilc2.doshisha.ac.jp/users/kkitao/online/www/student.htm#material for students to learn English and at http://ilc2.doshisha.ac.jp/users/kkitao/online/www/teacher.htm#material for teachers to teach English. We have made some , and they are at http://ilc2.doshisha.ac.jp/users/kkitao/class/material/.
Journals and Newsletters
Students can read journals or newsletters for students of English. Many of them have readings and fun activities to do as well as useful information. It is worth investigating these and making plans for what your students read, and how you can use the materials for your class.*13
News
Students can get news from various sources on the Internet.
One source is of news by e-mail is Daily Brief, a daily summary of U.S. and world news. The Daily Brief is a 2-3 page news summary sent out by e-mail every weekday morning. Included in the Brief are summaries of major news events that occurred during the 24 hours prior to distribution. To subscribe to the Daily Brief, send an empty e-mail message to incinc@tiac.net with "db" (without quotation marks) in the subject line.
Teaching the English Newspaper Effectively (http://www.aitech.ac.jp/~iteslj/Lessons/Kitao-Newspaper.html) is useful, if you are thinking about using English newspapers to teach English. It has some exercises which you can use with any newspapers.
Many Japanese newspapers have English news on the web. Newspapers. TV, and Radio in Japan (http://ilc2.doshisha.ac.jp/users/kkitao/online/www/teij.htm#news) has many links to Japanese newspapers, as well as other mass media. They are much easier for Japanese students to read, since they are familiar with the contents.
It is possible to read hundreds of newspapers in English around the world through "News Sources" (http://ilc2.doshisha.ac.jp/users/kkitao/online/www/referenc.htm#mass). You can read not only major newspapers around the world, but also countless minor newspapers as well.

Web Pages
A simple web page is fairly easy to make. It can be accessed by anyone in the world. Thus, it is a good device to publicize information, for example, making newsletters for students, local people or even people from all over the world. We show how to make simple web pages at http://ilc2.doshisha.ac.jp/users/kkitao/online/www/kitao/int-www.htm. We have made web page that serves as a bulletin board to present class syllabi, announcements, homework, reading materials, exercises, etc. We have used them to present students' compositions to show to the class.
If you learn a little more, you can create fairly artistic web pages which look professional. It is possible to teach students to make newsletters, etc., on the web.*14 You can see some examples at http://www.aitech.ac.jp/~iteslj/Links/StudentProjects.html. Also, Robb's article "Web Projects for the ESL/EFL Class" at http://www.kyoto-su.ac.jp/people/teacher/trobb/projects.html will help you to do such projects. You will find more examples at "Links to Projects by ESL Students" (URL: http://www.aitech.ac.jp/~iteslj/Links/StudentProjects. html). We have had students make web pages with useful links and descriptions. We have made a book with students' essays. There are many ways to use web pages for English language instruction.
Conclusion
As we have shown, the Internet, both e-mail and the World Wide Web, has a great potential to change our language instruction and students' learning of foreign languages. The Internet itself is absolutely free to use if your school has terminals connected to it.
There are many resources on the Internet already, and teachers and students have tried to use them in various ways. However, there has been little research done on how to use the resources most effectively. We need to continue to investigate ways to use the

Teaching English with media

Recently, technology is close to our life. People usually use technology to help them in daily activity. In teaching, technology is helping when we need to explore knowledge. Technology is also gives us new idea about haw to teach and how to make our teaching strategies better.
In English, technology includes cameras, audio equipment, computer technology, video equipment, overhead projection devices, scanners, printers, CD equipment almost any device that can access, present, manipulate and communicate words, sounds and images to enable us to create meaning.
Some technologies that can be used in teaching English are internet, television, computer, and so on. We may teach our student while we are far from them. In this case we can use internet as connector.
Teaching English to students can be greatly enhanced using technology. Like many other students, ESL students are using various forms of technology recreationally. These technologies can be used as educational technologies in order to help teach ESL. The student will easier to engaged with the material if the technology that we use is appropriate and interesting. Today’s students have lived in a world of computers, the Internet, mp3 players, and cell phones. Instead of playing board games, these students are now playing video games that occupy hours of their time a day.
As English teacher we also have to understand the using of technology, the advantage and disadvantage of them. We need to know how it is work. That is important to make a good lesson.
We must also consider any bad effect of them in teaching and learning with media.

TEACHING WITH TECHNOLOGY

Technology has become a phenomenon in life. Technology has become the most important partner in every dimension of our life. In recent years, using technology has become a significant part of education. Technology has been used in teaching to upgrade studying quality.
Teaching with technology is another advanced teaching strategy which has been successful enough in education world. Technology has a good start in engaging students’ interest. It has become excellent bridge to bring the students into a good attention. Later on, they are easier to catch on the materials conveyed by teachers.
Technology has simplified learning process successfully. Besides helping teachers in engaging students, it helps teachers in practicing and showing something as a real object as well. I tell about video here. Teachers no longer ask the students only to imagine and imagine what teachers can’t show. Teachers can only show a video related to the thing they want to show. It was a great help.
Teaching with technology is about teaching easier and easier. Students may have a distance class indeed. Now, I tell about internet. Teachers now have a good alternative way in giving instruction, direction, or assignment. Students might have extra class outside their regular class. It was a positive value in teaching activities.
As a closing, I want to say that teaching with technology is one of the best ways in teaching strategies which need to apply in education.
